Soothing Kale Juice

This is a great starter juice for any juicing newbies. Some green juices can really have intense flavor, but this one has a more gentle sweet flavor, thanks to the pineapple and mint. Pineapple is also a powerful digestive aid; you can credit the enzyme bromelain for that. So if your stomach needs some love, this juice is the one to drink up!

Soothing Kale

Serves: 1 to 2

Ingredients

  • 4 kale leaves and stems
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 cup cubed fresh pineapple, skin removed
  • 1 inch ginger root
  • 5 fresh mint leaves and stems, add more to taste

Directions

  1. Rinse off vegetables and fruits with water - you can scrub tough skinned vegetables such as cucumbers, beets, carrots, and ginger to remove dirt.
  2. You can leave the skins on organic vegetables, such as carrots, beets, and apples - we usually take off the tough peel of fruits like lemons and oranges, since they can be hard on your juicer. Try to keep the white part on lemons and oranges because it is rich in vitamin C.
  3. If you are using conventional nonorganic produce, it is best to remove the skins and peels to avoid pesticides.
  4. Cut the vegetables and fruits into small pieces that will fit through your juicer tube.
  5. Feed the ingredients through your juicer one by one to avoid jamming it.
  6. It's best to drink your juice immediately after preparation to get all the active vitamins in antioxidants.
